Grenadier Fantasy Warrior Orcs

Great miniatures from Grenadier, sculpted Mr Nick Lund purchased in the 1980's. The orcs come from various packs of Grenadier Fantasy Warriors range. The first orc with axe and shield is from Fantasy Warriors pack 943 orcs with hand weapons. The second orc with spiked mace comes from unknown pack, perhaps a variation from pack 942. The third is from Fantasy Warriors pack 948 orcs with bows. Finally the fourth is from Fantasy Warriors pack 944 orcs with pole arms.

The orc skins colours used were:

1. Foundry paint Moss Shade 29A.
2. Foundry paint Moss  29B.
3. Foundry paint Moss Light 29C + a touch of Moss 29B.
4. Final extreme highlight was Foundry Moss light 29C.

The first, second & fourth orcs had an ink wash/glaze to produce a more green flesh tone. However the orc with just the bow did not have this wash/glaze. I have to say I prefer it & will paint future orcs with this mix of paints.

Grenadier Fantasy Warriors 902 Cleric and Companions

Great miniatures from Grenadier purchased in the 1980's. The cleric was repainted as well as his fellow priest.

The fighter was painted for the first time this year. Main colour on the fighter was Vallejo Model Colour English Uniform, the shield was painted with Vallejo Model Colour 982 Cavalry Red & highlighted with VMC 957 Flat Red. I printed up a water decal representing 'The Lord's Alliance' which is a D&D Faction for Forgotten Realms/ Faerun.

Rear shot of minis to show, colours used.

Otherworld Miniatures WE10a – Large Spiders v2 (3)

Otherworld Miniatures  WE10a – Large Spiders v2 (3)

When I saw these guys, I just had to have them. Richard surpassed himself by replacing the originals & to boot, they come in one piece. No gluing of separate legs. Excellent.

Colours used were:

Body & legs

  1. Black, any will do.
  2. Black + Vallejo Model Colour Burnt Umber.
  3. A little black + Vallejo Model Colour Burnt Umber.
Forgot what I used for knee joint colours on the legs. Probably Vallejo Burnt Umber, then Vallejo Flat Brown with a final highlight of Citadel Vomit Brown.

Must keep more comprehensive notes.

Markings
  1. Vallejo Game Colour Gory Red + a little black.
  2. Vallejo Gory Red.
Other Markings
  1. Vallejo Model Colour Khaki
  2. Vallejo Model Colours Khaki + Dark Sand.
  3. Vallejo Model Colour Dark Sand.

Old Grenadier Copplestone Halfling with Sword

Old Grenadier Copplestone Halfling with Sword (no product code)

Here is a doubtless one of the finest halfling miniature available, from the hands of the master Mark Copplestone. Nicely poised on the chubbier side of the slim style. The only issues with this gorgeous miniature is that it's only available from Italy & when you take into account shipping they are going to cost.

Link here just in case you are tempted: http://www.mirliton.it/index.php?cName=fantasy-2528mm-halfmen

Secondly the quality sets an unfair standard for other halfling miniatures. Well done for outstanding work Mr Mark Copplestone.

However, all is not lost you can buy Mark Copplestone's own halflings which are just as amazing.

For my records & just in case any other painters would like to know my colour palette. Here is what I used:

  4. Highlight with Derivan forest green + Citadel (old) Emerald Green.
  5. Final highlight just Citadel (old) Emerald Green.
Trousers
  1. Citadel Khorne Red as base.
  2. Wash/ shade with Citadel Agrax Earthshade.
  3. Layer with Vallejo Model Colour Cavalry Brown or Citadel Wazdakka Red.
  4. Layer with Vallejo Model Colour Red Leather.
  5. Wash with Citadel red shade, Carroburg Crimson to give a richer colour.

Citadel C07 Ranger - "Hunter"

Citadel C07 Ranger - "Hunter"

Painted earlier this year, this old miniature of mine which I purchased in the 1980's. It came from the Citadel C07 Rangers range, circa October 1985. With Frostgrave been popular, I had to paint it with a winter, snow theme & racoon tail on head gear.
