Anirion, Wood Elf Wizard by Reaper Miniatures

Anirion, Wood Elf Wizard was painted for one of the characters (not mine), I'm playing in a Pathfinder campaign. My characters are the ranger & dwarf posted already on this blog.

I modded him to represent a low level elf wizard (named, Lucius). Here is a picture of the original miniature.

Here is my final version.

I've included a top view to show the leaves. Chosen because I painted the miniature in the autumn & I wanted to try out these wonderful maple & oak leaves. Available here (http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/plus-models-1-35th-maple-leaves-fall.html).

Wishing everyone a FANTASTIC New Year, 2014.

Otherworld Miniatures Giant Ticks

Painted these Otherworld giant ticks ( http://otherworldminiatures.co.uk/shop/dungeon-vermon/dv2a-giant-ticks-4), a few weeks back. I also decided to paint one who has just fed & made a mess, with loads of fresh blood. Nice & gory.

Citadel Ranger

Well its been a while & a drastic haircut ( needed to get more work for period dramas & it has worked :))

Anyway back to the task at hand & here is another old school Citadel ranger ( I think 1980's), which I'm using as a PC, in my friend's D&D/Pathfinder game. I decided to paint one of his eyes closed as in taking aim with his bow. I think it works. I also decided to use my grass gaming mat in this photo. I also included with the default blue back drop.

Salute 2013

Salute 2013

Well my Salute 2013 experience was excellent as always, even when working for Leisure Games. Mike gave me the break to wiz around the show to purchase, chat, photograph and browse.

Me at work on Leisure Games stand, during a quiet period. At times we were in Zulu Dawn mode, all those customers !! Who have to say were a joy to serve & chat.

Satyr by Ral Partha

Satyr

Painted last autumn (2012).

How old !!!

Well, I have to say. I think I'm going to get the Victor Meldrew from  "One Foot in the  Grave"  catchphrase, "I don't believe it!"

Yes the paints shown below are still in use.
Yes they are from the early 1980's.
Yes, just used the Hobgoblin Orange for highlights on my giant rats eyes ( a week ago).

Sounding like an old fart. Games Workshops don't make paints like they used to (the golden years). In fact the last paint I bought from them a couple years ago dried out within a year of purchase (shake fist at corporate business). In fact I think they are just screwing their customers. I mean (rant here), these paints are stored in a warm conservatory which gets very hot in the summer. however the lids seal the paints which have never dried out. Even after 30 years !!!

On this forum  http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=294810 another thumbs up for old Citadel Colour paints from the 80's. Ah, those were the days.

Well these days I'm a Vallejo model, air & game colour man. Any paint recommendations please post in the comments.

Giant birds

This is an old Citadel Runequest Demi-Bird that I painted last year.

Since I have not played Runequest since the 80's. I use this excellent miniature as a D&D/Pathfinder Axe beak.

Old Ral Partha Terror bird (I think).

Sorry about the quality of the photo. I need to improve and take another. Also used as an Axe Beak.
Well it's been a while, that is why this blog is known as The Slow Miniatures Painter ;).

Any way I'm posting a few Giant Rats that were kindly sent for free by Richard from Otherworld Miniatures. I suspect it was because a) he is a nice guy & b) it was a large order. So Otherworld miniatures get a gold star for excellent customer service. Highly recommended.

The rats are still in the painting process & are not finished yet. Hope to photo them when finished.
