Kids on Wheels by Morgue Miniatures 2021

Well what can I say that won’t be biased 🤔. I painted these wonderful miniatures sculpted by a talented young sculptor, Mat Holmes from my brief, because myself & my wife, Julie own Morgue Miniatures. We thought let’s do a small range of kids on wheels to compliment our first range of 1980’s kids which were inspired by “Kids on Bikes” RPG, “Tales from the Loop” RPG & “Stranger Things” TV Show. Happy with the way they came out & especially with the sculpts.

Also a big thank you to all our Kickstarter backers that made this possible especially in spite of a global pandemic.

We called this mini Patrick, boy on a skateboard. Facially inspired by Patrick Swayze, hence the name. Also had Mat our sculptor, add 2 “MM”s to represent Morgue Miniatures.

Next was Jennifer, girl on roller skates

Jennifer, girl wearing roller skates was inspired by Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing. I didn’t think, I painted the face to do it justice, however the hair was spot on for Ms Grey. I had to remove the tab that the miniature was attached to, so I could pin it to a smooth road base. Also with the 1980’s theme, I painted the socks in a rainbow 🌈 scheme.

Kids on Bikes

Julie- girl with a bicycle

Julie was named after my wife and based on the cover of the RPG “Kids on Bikes” though we didn’t copy the dungarees that the young girl is wearing on the cover of the “Kids on Bikes” RPG. I was very happy on the choice of colour for her bike which I thought incapsulated the theme of the 1980’s.

Elliot - boy with a bicycle

We named this young boy with his mountain bike, Elliot after one of the biggest films of the 1980s, “E.T.”. Also I copied the colour palette of what Elliot was wearing. Red gilet & blue jeans. We also decided that he should have a BMX/ mountain bike which were coming into fashion in the 1980s as well. This was further enhanced by having off road tyres and finally a bright lime green paint job on the bike as a nod to “Muddyfox” BMX bikes & Kawasaki motorcycles which sported this colour during the 1980s.

Overall we were very happy with these miniatures.
